LONG BEACH, Calif. - The University of Nevada (2-5) men's basketball team concluded a season-high five-game stretch of games away from home with a 68-57 loss at Long Beach State (5-4) tonight. The Wolf Pack dropped its fifth in a row after starting the season with a pair of home wins.
The Pack led 20-17 with 5:09 to play in the first half before the 49ers went on a 14-0 run to take a 31-20 advantage. LBSU held the Pack to just four field goals in the first half and led 31-22 at halftime. Both teams struggled from the field as Nevada shot 19 percent and the 49ers 28.
LBSU led by 14 points less than a minute into the second half but Nevada battled back to get within a point at 39-38 with 13:05 to play. The 49ers held a three-point advantage 48-45 with 9:34 and Nevada would get now closer falling by double figures for the second time in a row, 68-57.
Sophomore guard D.J. Fenner tied for game high honors finishing with 17 points. Junior guard Marqueze Coleman tied his career-high as he totaled 15 points in the game. Senior guard Michael Perez was the third Pack player in double figures with10. Junior AJ West grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and added nine points.
Mike Caffey had 17 points for LBSU and Tyler Lamb added 14. Temidayo Yussuf posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pack made a season-low 19 field goals which resulted in a season worst 32 percent shooting from the field. Nevada shot 19 percent in the first half and improved to 41 percent in the second period. LBSU was slightly worse making 31.8 percent of their field goals in the game.
Nevada returns home to play Cal on Sunday at 1 p.m. in a game that will air on CBS Sports Network.

Sophomore guard
D.J. Fenner tied for game-high honors with 17 points, one shy of his career high set this year in the season opener versus Cal Poly.
Fenner has scored in double figures in five games this season.
Junior guard
Marqueze Coleman tied his career-high finishing with 15 points. Coleman has scored in double figures in six-of-seven games this season.
Junior forward
AJ West grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and was one point from posting his third double-double of the season as he netted nine points.
West led the team in rebounding for the sixth time this season and posted a game-high for the fifth time. Tonight was his third double digit rebounding game of the season.
West has a blocked shot in every game after blocking four tonight.
Senior guard
Michael Perez scored 10 points to give the Pack three double figure scorers in the game. It was the fifth time Perez reached double figures this season and 26th time in his career.
Perez started 39th consecutive game tonight.
Nevada has not scored 60 points in the last four games.
In the last two games Nevada has committed 39 turnovers. The Pack had a season-high 20 at Omaha and 19 tonight at LBSU.
The Pack shot a season-low 32 percent from the field and made a season-low 16 field goals.
Head coach David Carter is now 91-80 in his sixth season at Nevada. The 91 wins is tied with Len Stevens (1987-93) for sixth in career wins at Nevada.
