LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) Riley Grabau scored 18 points and Derek Cooke Jr. and Larry Nance Jr. both had double-doubles to lead Wyoming to a 63-55 win over Nevada on Saturday.
Cooke had 14 points and Nance 11 and both had 10 rebounds. Josh Adams added 13 points for the Cowboys (18-4, 7-2 Mountain West).
Tyron Criswell had 17 points and AJ West 15 for the Wolf Pack (6-14, 2-6).
Wyoming closed the first half with a 9-2 run to lead 33-23. West scored six straight points and Michael Perez drained a 3-pointer to pull the Wolf Pack within 45-41 midway through the second half. Grabau ended the threat with a 3 and then the Cowboys made 10 of 12 free throws in the final 2:22 to secure the win.
With Grabau 9 of 9, Wyoming was 21 of 26 from the foul line. Nevada was 11 of 14.
Men's Basketball Postgame Notes
Nevada is 6-14 overall and 2-6 in Mountain West play after falling 63-55 at conference leading Wyoming (18-4, 7-2 MW) today.
The Wolf Pack hosts San Diego State on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The game will air ESPN3.
The Wolf Pack has lost its last six games after starting MW play 2-0.
Junior guard Tyron Criswell led the Wolf Pack in scoring for the second time this season finishing with 17 points. Criswell scored 13 points in the first half. Since being inserted into the starting lineup the last three games he has scored in double figures in all three games.
Junior forward AJ West did not score in the first half for the first time this season but scored 15 points after halftime and finished with a team-high seven rebounds.
West has scored in double figures the last 10 games.
For the first time this season West did not block a shot.
West has led the Pack in rebound now 15 times.
Head coach David Carter is now 95-89 in his sixth season at Nevada and 15-26 in his third season of MW play.
