EL PASO, Texas - The ninth ranked University of Nevada rifle team completed the season sweep of No. 18 UTEP on Saturday with a 4644-4617 Patriot Rifle Conference road win. The Wolf Pack won 4656-4577 on Oct. 1 in Reno. With the victory the Pack are 2-1 overall and in PRC action. The Miners fell to 0-2 on the season and in the conference.

Nevada fell three spots to 12th in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association poll that was released Monday.

"It was a closer match then it would appear to be by looking just at points," head coach Fred Harvey said. " Mitchell had a good match as did Sarah Jameson. They both shot both guns well. Mitchell in particular had a strong score."

The Pack outshot UTEP 2292-2269 in smallbore. Nevada had six shooters in the top eight led by sophomore Mitchell Van Patten's 580 that tied UTEP's Rachael Schoenrock for the top score of the day but he finished second in the event based on X count. Sarah Jameson (573), Rachel Benesh (570) and Justin Nissen (569) took spots three, four and five respectively. Freshman Eli Larimer was third with a 568 followed by junior Emily Capaul's 566.

Nevada took the air rifle by four points, 2352-2348. Four Wolf Pack shooters finished in the top five. Capaul's 591 earned first place in the event. UTEP's Schoenrock shot 589 to finish second. Van Patten, Nissen and Larimer rounded out the top five with identical scores of 588. Jameson earned eighth with a score of 585 and Benesh was 10th with a 580.

Schoenrock edged Van Patten 1169-1168 for the top aggregate score. The next four aggregate scores belonged to Pack shooters: Jameson (1158), Capaul (1157), Nissen (1157) and Larimer (1156). Benesh posted an 1150 aggregate score to finish eighth.

Nevada hosts No. 19 Akron on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m.
