Box Score FRESNO, Calif. - Nevada volleyball continued its California road trip on Saturday afternoon, grabbing the win over Fresno State, 3-1.
The Bulldogs came out with the first points before the Pack found their rhythm with a four-point run that allowed them to grab their first lead of the game. Nevada continued to build with three more runs and had its largest advantage of eight at 22-14.
Nevada was able to hold off Fresno State through the remainder of the opening set, taking it 25-19.
The Pack held their opponent to a hitting percentage of zero in the entire first set.
Despite being even through the first half of the second set, Nevada wasn't able to carry the momentum as Fresno State began to pull away and ultimately evened the match at one a piece.
Into the third, the Pack bounced back and only allowed the Bulldogs to take the lead twice before controlling the remainder of the set. Nevada had its largest lead of five in the third, two times.
Late in the set, Fresno State attempted a comeback with a 3-0 run, but a kill by
Nicanora Clarke closed it out with a 25-23 set win.
With a 2-1 advantage, Nevada controlled the fourth. The Bulldogs jumped in front early, but the Pack didn't let it last long as they went on multiple runs, including a 4-0 push that started with a kill by
Audrey Jensen to put the match away with a 25-19 set four win.
Nevada had a total of 57 kills compared to Fresno State's 43 and led in kills in every set (12-7 in the first, 15-13 in the second, 16-9 in the third) except for the fourth, where each team had 14.
Mckaley Herr led in kills with 17, followed by
Haylee Brown with 15.
The Pack as a whole also had 10 aces compared to two from the Bulldogs. Clarke had three of them, while
Bella Snyder and
Summer Suppik each had two.
Audrey Jensen led both teams with a season high 40 assists.
Nevada will return home to face Wyoming on October 16 at 6 PM, and Colorado state two days later at 12 PM.
