SAN JOSE, Calif. - Nevada women's tennis opened its weekend with eight wins, sweeping singles action and winning two doubles matches, in day one of the San José Fall Invitation.
The Pack opened the day going six for six over Santa Clara in singles action. Amahée Charrier defeated Tian Yu Dong (6-3, 6-2),
Marlene Foerster took down Anna Rahman (6-3, 6-0),
Petra Janigova beat Ashley Katz (6-1, 7-5),
Wiem Boubaker downed Juliette Krumholz (6-0, 6-2),
Kennedy Robinson defeated Jamie Pope (6-4, 6-2) and
Silvia-Maria Costache rounded it out with a win over Madhu Satishbabu (6-2, 5-7, 6-0).
Into doubles, Nevada took two out of three matches against the host team. The duo of Janigova and Charrier grabbed a 6-1 win over Soledad Capilla and Duru Durgun, while the team of Foerster and Robinson defeated Cristina Losada and Tara Mihaljevic, 6-4.
Despite a tough battle in the third of doubles action, Boubaker and Costache fell to Emma Fantousis and Katarina Brajovic, 6-4.
Nevada will continue play tomorrow, with matches beginning at 9 AM.
