SANTA CLARA, Calif. -Â Nevada Women's Tennis earned a split of its trip into California Monday, capturing a 5-2 victory at Santa Clara.
The Wolf Pack (4-4) clinched the match with three quick wins in the top three singles spots.
Marlene Foerster settled a 6-1, 6-3 decision at No. 2 against Tian Yu Dong followed by Amahée Charrier's 6-2, 6-2 victory over Daniella Dimitrova to put the Pack on the verge of victory. That win was made official when
Petra Janigova finished off the second-set tiebreaker against Ashley Katz for a 6-3, 7-6 (2) victory.
Kennedy Robinson closed the dual with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 win at No. 5 to account for the final score.
In doubles, Nevada took the point for the early advantage, getting wins of 6-1 and 6-2 from the tandems of
Silvia-Maria Costache and Foerster and Charrier and Kennedy, respectively.
The match was originally scheduled for late last week but was postponed due to inclement weather conditions.
The Pack returns to action in two weeks for its home opener March 7 against Sacramento State. First serve at McArthur Tennis Center is set for 12 p.m.
