RENO, Nev. - Nevada limited Louisiana Tech to just 50 points on 36 percent shooting from the field and 13.6 percent from behind the arc, including 0-for-13 from three in the first half, as the Wolf Pack earned a dominant 77-50 victory over the Bulldogs to start the season with a win.
Chuck Bailey III led the Pack offense with 24 points and four rebounds in 26 minutes played.
Tayshawn Comer followed up with 10 points and two assists in 19 minutes.
Nevada was in control of the game the whole night. The Pack offense shot 44.6 percent from the field (25-for-56) and 30 percent from behind the arc (6-for-20). Nevada out-rebounded Louisiana Tech 45-26, including a 17-for-8 margin on the offensive glass. This led to 12 more second-chance points for Nevada. The team was moving the ball effectively today, as they recorded 16 assists on 25 made field goals.
On defense,
Joel Armotrading played 21 minutes and led the Pack with two blocked shots. As a team, the Pack forced 13 turnovers, which led to 11 points.
First half:
Bailey III got things started for the Pack with a free throw made with 20 seconds into the game.
Elijah Price hit a two-point jump shot in the paint to extend the Pack's lead to 7-3 before the first media timeout.
Bailey III and
Corey Camper Jr. continued to light up for the Pack with back-to-back three-point shots, forcing the Bulldogs to call a timeout, with Nevada leading 13-3 in the first half.
Kaleb Lowery helped the Pack extend its lead to 17-7 with a two-point second chance, outside of the paint in the 10-minute mark.
The Pack continued to dominate the game after a two-point made by Price, putting Nevada up 22-10.
Jeriah Coleman, with a two-point layup, put the Pack in the highest lead in the first half, with a 28-10 score.
Comer closed out the first half for the Pack with a field goal outside the paint, for the Pack to end the period with a 34-18 lead.
Second half:
Armotrading got things going in the second half for the Pack with a dunk, for a 36-20 score.
Camper Jr. received a foul at the 17-minute mark. Corey made both free throws for a 19-point difference in the game.
The Pack offense continued to light up in the second half, as Bailey III hit a three-point shot to put the Pack in a 30-point lead at the 8:53 minute mark.
The Bulldogs cut the deficit to a 20-point difference at the 5:58 mark, but Bailey III responded with a three-point shot for a 67-44 lead.
Christopher Baudreau capped things off for the Pack with a field goal made in the paint, and the Pack starts the season with a 77-50 victory over the Bulldogs.
