LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Nevada women's tennis grabbed four wins on opening day of the Mountain West Fall Qualifier, taking two in singles and two in doubles.
Amahee Charrier entered the tournament as the number one seed, taking her first round match against New Mexico's Vianca Corley after dropping the first set, 6-4, but taking the next two, 7-5.Â

Marlene Foerster was the other singles winner for the Pack, defeating San Diego State's Vessa Turley in two sets, 6-3 and 6-4, respectively.Â
Silvia-Maria Costache fell in her match to Nikol Mircheva of UNLV in two, but will get the chance to compete in the consolation match. She will take on New Mexico's Lea Malazdra.
Charrier will compete in the second round against Boise State's Allison Isaacs, while Foerster will take on UNLV's Hudson Hawkins. Singles are set to begin at 12 PM tomorrow.Â
In doubles, the team of Charrier and
Kennedy Robinson got the win over Kaho Oyama and Veronika Kluick of UNLV, 8-4. They will move on to the quarterfinal to face Ninon Martinache and Gloria Alogo Piqueras from San Diego State.
The Duo of Foerster and Costache rounded out the victories for the Pack, taking down Luana Avelar and Sorcha Caves from San Diego State in a 9-7 tiebreaker. They will face Isabella Crossman and Dania Deaifi of GCU in the quarterfinals.Â
Doubles action is scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM tomorrow.
